Welcome to my day on the La Conner Blog Tour – where I get to share the two projects I made using the La Conner fabric designed by the talented and very sweet Jera Brandvig of Quilting in the Rain. This pretty line is being distributed by Lecien Fabrics.
I want to give a quick shout out to the very generous Peta Peace of She Quilts a Lot, who put me forward for this blog tour. Peta was originally asked by Jera to take part, but Peta is currently moving house (and renovating!) and was unable to do it. So Peta suggested me to Jera, who contacted me, and I said a big resounding, “Yes, please!”
The La Conner fabric is full of flowers, and strawberries, and gingham – oh my! And the colours are lovely – muted shades of pink, red, green, aqua and brown. And the icing on the cake are the little bits of gold on some of the prints – so pretty!
The gingham is my very favourite of the prints – in these three colourways:
When the fabric arrived, I did a little happy dance, then went searching through my craft books for project ideas.
I thought it would be very fitting to choose a project from Peta’s new book, A Piece of Cake. It’s full of fabulous projects, and I just knew the LOVE mini quilt was the perfect showcase for the La Conner prints.
I decided to machine quilt it using a stipple design all over, then hand quilt around each letter. I made a scrappy binding to finish it off – I loooove a scrappy binding!
For my second project, I made a Storyteller Hexie Pouch. I was fortunate to pattern test this great pouch for the lovely Annika of Snuggle Friends. You can find the pattern here. It is a quick and easy make, and it would be a great gift! In fact, this is going to be a birthday present for a dear friend!
How sweet is the print I chose for the lining – the epitome of tiny florals!! I even remembered to add my label to the lining – I usually forget!
I really enjoyed making these projects, and I’ve been so inspired by all the creativity being shown by the amazing makers on this blog hop! Be sure to keep an eye out for the rest of the fabulous projects!
In closing, a big thank you to Peta, Jera, and Lecien fabrics for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful blog hop and for giving me the chance to work with these beautiful fabrics!
Till next time,
